My CV

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

OCT 2019 - MARCH 2021

Ballinger Publishing - Editor

I was an editorial intern with Ballinger for fall 2018. I was hired as Editor of the company during my final semester at UWF. I pitched and wrote articles for 5+ monthly magazines, but I was specifically in charge of Business Climate, which is published monthly and has two annual issues, and Downtown Crowd, a monthly publication focused on the happenings of downtown Pensacola. I also managed all social media accounts and websites.

DEC 2020 - MARCH 2021

City of Pensacola - Citizen Police Advisory Committee

I was appointed to this committee by City Councilwoman Teníadé Broughton. This committee was established in August 2020 after the murder of Tymar Crawford by the Pensacola Police Department. The purpose of the committee is for the members to suggest recommendations to improve the relationship between the police and community. I recommended the PPD had the Confederate (Stars and Bars) flag removed from their uniform. I also recommended the PPD doesn't handcuff suspects with life threatening wounds. The Pensacola mayor terminated this committee March 31, 2021.

JAN 2019 - OCT 2019

The Brewton Standard - News Editor

I was first hired as a part-time General Assignment Reporter in January 2019. A month later, I was promoted to Editor of Brewton: The Magazine’s spring issue. In April, I became News Editor of The Standard. I supervised staff writers, assigned articles to staff, wrote and edited articles for the weekly newspaper.  I’m very experienced with fast-paced work environments and time management. I started a series that investigated Escambia County’s involuntary commitment process. The first article was published March 20 and the second April 10. Both articles are being used in an active court case against the probate court.

OCT 2018 - DEC 2019

The Argonautica - Founder & Editor

I launched UWF’s premier student-led magazine. I wrote a grant that featured extensive research on the need for an online campus magazine. The grant received the maximum amount of funding from UWF's Office of Undergraduate Research and was endorsed by the English Department. I hosted weekly editorial meetings where the staff and I pitched article ideas for the magazine. I would assign the articles, edit the writers' articles, send them feedback and post the articles on the website. This experience made me an effective leader and an experienced website designer.

JAN 2017 - OCT 2019

UWF Writing Lab - Student Editor

I edited doctoral, undergraduate and high school level papers. I taught weekly hour long grammar lessons to a class of 15+ undergraduates. I also taught College of Business students business writing skills.

AUG 2016 - DEC 2019

University of West Florida - B.A. Magna cum Laude

I earned a B.A. in English Literature and Journalism and a Public, Technical & Workplace Writing Certificate in three years.
